Vapour blasting for engine cases
Photo-led assessment for bare engine cases, crankcases, covers and suitable castings requiring controlled cleaning and a consistent satin appearance.
Suitability and preparation
Suitable engine cases must arrive fully stripped
VMC assesses aluminium engine cases, crankcases, side covers and similar cast components individually. Vapour blasting can remove suitable surface contamination, oxidation and tired finishes, but it does not repair cracks, deep pitting, corrosion damage or lost metal.
Fine media reaches everywhere. VMC cannot rely on masking to protect vulnerable internals, so parts must arrive as bare castings with bearings, seals, bushes, oilways and anything that could trap or be affected by media removed.
Photographs needed for assessment
- The complete bare casting from several angles.
- Close-ups of corrosion, paint, damage and sensitive surfaces.
- Approximate dimensions and alloy/material if known.
- The required finish and quantity.
