How to photograph parts for a fast vapour blasting quote
Send the right photos first so VMC can assess suitability, price and turnaround without back-and-forth.
The right photos help Charlie quote accurately.
VMC quotes most work from photos because price and turnaround depend on size, material, condition, complexity, paint, corrosion, masking and preparation. A few clear images can avoid delays and stop the wrong process being recommended.
- Take one full photo of each part.
- Add close-ups of corrosion, paint, damage, threads and machined areas.
- Show scale with a tape measure, ruler or familiar object.
- Photograph every side if the part is complex.
- Group batch work neatly so quantity is obvious.
What to include with the photos.
- Part type: e.g. engine case, carburettor, caliper, manifold.
- Approximate size and quantity.
- Material if known, especially aluminium or mixed metals.
- Current condition: paint, grease, oxidation, corrosion or previous blasting.
- Any areas to mask/protect.
- Whether you want appointment drop-off, post-in or courier return.
- Any deadline or ideal turnaround.
Use the closest part page if you want more guidance.

Photo quote questions
What photos does VMC need for a quote?
Send a whole-part photo, close-ups of corrosion, paint, damage or threads, at least one photo showing scale, and any areas that must be masked or protected.
Do I need to clean the part first?
Remove loose oil, heavy grease and loose dirt where practical. Do not dismantle anything you are unsure about; mention bearings, seals, threads and delicate areas in the message.
Can I WhatsApp photos instead of using a form?
Yes. WhatsApp is usually the quickest route: send photos with part type, size, material if known, quantity, condition and whether you want drop-off or courier return.
